Ant was a participant in the first cohort for our Diploma Style Train the Trainer program for our popular IOSH Accredited Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety Program earlier this year. There were 12 delegates from 7 nations and 10 very different organisations.

They are now able to formally deliver the IOSH Accredited Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety Program to their operational leaders, managers and supervisors throughout their organisation or clientbase.

Pink quote mark

I’ve done the Behavioural Science program before and liked it a lot. I know Breedon have also brought Darren in to deliver it, but I wanted to get to know the content much better and start delivering it myself.

So when I saw Darren had reached out on LinkedIn to say he was running a Train the Trainer, I jumped in quick and signed up with one of my colleagues and we’re so glad we did.

This program is about fresh ideas, it’s about human performance and leadership and covers a lot of bases.

I believe behavioural safety as a subject is generally perceived as trying to change people’s behaviours, but it’s about much more than that – it’s about trying to change everything around them that effects their behaviours, and I don’t think this is well understood.

That’s why I really like Darren’s views, theories and opinions, and I think you will too.

Breedon really appreciate fresh thinking and new perspectives – they want to learn. Which is why I’ve been drip feeding some of the lessons I’ve learned like Performance versus Results which is a total game changer when you focus your performance on the here and now.

Our plan is to start rolling out the program to senior leaders and then our managerial and safety team, so everyone is delivering the same consistent message.

For me, the pace of the Train the Trainer was spot on with the two-week intervals and then all getting together on Teams; and Darren’s great facilitation style, which I’ve adopted! It was a manageable 6-month program on top of my other commitments.

Darren also set up a community platform App for the group making it easy for us chat, share ideas and ask questions.

I've said before that this isn't a typical safety course and it challenges everything we think we already know. I can't wait to deliver it myself.
